Indications, characteristics and screening
Research of Mycoplasma haemocanis (large form) and The candidate is Mycoplasma haematoparvum (small form) by real-time PCR.
Test indications
- Diagnosis of canine hemobartonellose.
 - Bacterial load monitoring per and post antibiotic treatment.
 - Detection of asymptomatic carriers.

Test characteristics
- Real-time RT-PCR
 - Detection threshold
 - Detection of Mycoplasma haemocanis and Candida Mycoplasma haematoparvum.

Samples to be taken
- Diagnosis of canine hemobartonellosis: whole blood (EDTA), bone marrow, spleen or liver biopsies.
 - Monitoring treatment effectiveness: whole blood (EDTA).
 - Screening of healthy carriers: whole blood (EDTA), bone marrow, spleen aspirates.

Interpretation of the result
- Negative result: Absence of the bacteria(s) or quantity below the detection threshold of the technique. Allows the exclusion of clinical hemobartonellosis.
 - Positive result : It is interpreted according to the type of hemobartonella detected and its load.
