Test indications

  • Diagnosis of canine hemobartonellose.

Samples to be taken

  • Diagnosis of canine hemobartonellosis: whole blood (EDTA), bone marrow, spleen or liver biopsies.
  • Monitoring treatment effectiveness: whole blood (EDTA).
  • Screening of healthy carriers: whole blood (EDTA), bone marrow, spleen aspirates.

Interpretation of the result

  • Negative result: Absence of the bacteria(s) or quantity below the detection threshold of the technique. Allows the exclusion of clinical hemobartonellosis.
  • Positive result : It is interpreted according to the type of hemobartonella detected and its load.
