Diagnostic Laboratory
Quantitative PCR Specialist (real-time PCR), Scanelis now offers about sixty tests for the detection/quantification of infectious agents in many animal species (dogs, cats, NAC, cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, rabbits, horses and fish).
All tests marketed by Scanelis have been developed and validated by our Research and Development department.
Our production department conducts these analyses on a daily basis in a secure laboratory dedicated to this technology for a rapid diagnosis for veterinary practitioners.
Industry services
Scanelis offers its services to pharmaceutical industries, biotechnology companies, laboratory animal suppliers and research laboratories:
- Sanitary control by real-time PCR
- Genetic tests by real-time PCR
- Quality control of biological products by real-time PCR
- Diagnosis carried out according to specific technical specifications, a quality Plan adapted, e.g. according to the recommendations of the European Pharmacopoeia.

Diagnostic Laboratory
All our tests pertaining to quantitative PCR (real-time PCR) used in the laboratory have been developed and validated by Scanelis' Research & Development team.
Our technical specifications are very strict:
- The test must be adapted to the needs of the field (quantitative aspect, typing of vaccine strains, detection of pathogenic strains).
- the analytical specificity of the test is evaluated on reference strains and field strains. It is verified by sequencing during the validation phases of the test.
- the detection threshold which makes it possible to assess the sensitivity of the test is determined by statistical studies (Probit analyses) in accordance with the recommendations of the European Pharmacopoeia (§2.6.21) and the NF U47-600-2 standard (Requirements and recommendations for the development and validation of PCR in veterinary biology). A detection limit of 95% is thus calculated. Suitable positive controls are used on each test run, allowing this detection limit to be verified for each analysis. More details on the detection threshold
- the rate of asymptomatic carriers in the population as well as the level of carriage (viral or bacterial load) are also evaluated in the field in different populations in order to be able to assess the clinical interest of the test (diagnostic specificity), in particular compared to other veterinary diagnostic methods.
Industry services
Scanelis develops custom tests tailor-made for industry, by respecting the technical specifications according to the needs of its customers. Scanelis can evaluate the performance of a particular test developed by its customer (detection limit, specificity, reproducibility,...).

Quality assurance
To guarantee its customers reliable test results, Scanelis has implemented a Quality Management System based on the recommendations of ISO 17025 and NF U47-600-1 standards (Requirements and recommendations for the implementation of PCR in animal health). Following the ANSM inspection in December 2016, Scanelis also benefits from a recognition of compliance with Good Laboratory Practices for the performance of PCR bio-analyses implemented in the context of regulatory studies (compliance level A, i.e. the highest).
Traceability and follow-up of your analyses
Scanelis has deployed a Computerized Laboratory Management System (LIMS) to automate the full traceability of samples from recording to results and invoicing.
The Premises
Scanelis has designed its laboratory in order to offer maximum safety and a strict forward march of the samples is respected.
Test Development & Validation
All tests are developed in compliance with the recommendations of the European Pharmacopoeia (§2.6.21) and the NF U47-600-2 standard (Requirements and recommendations for the development and validation of PCR in veterinary biology). More about the development of Scanelis PCR tests
Analyses for quality control of organic products

Some testimonies
Dr. Bréchet Laurent, Longjumeau Although it is only an additional test, it is often a good means of diagnosis and scanelis is always there to respond in a friendly and very professional way to our requests. |
Dr. C. (34) Scanelis is the reference laboratory for PCR analysis: the experience, competence and reliability of this laboratory are at the origin of the total confidence I place in it. |
Dr. Lazard Patrick, Saint Germain en Laye An unfailing satisfaction for many years. |
Dr. Oudart Stéphane, Beaumont de Lomagne I am particularly pleased with Scanelis. And the agreement with the laboratory from which I source the vaccine is particularly welcome, even if I only use it very occasionally. |
Dr. Serignac Françoise, Mery sur Oise Great availability of secretaries and vets. Telephone waiting is bearable. When you call, you even get a little sunshine with your singing accent. |
Dr. Jouberjean Pons Marie-Noëlle, Montreal la Cluse Scanelis is a high-performance laboratory, with technical and diagnostic advice, which I have complete confidence in. |
Dr. D. (66) Always satisfied with your availability, I have always had quick and wise advice. The time it takes to get results is often very fast. Your information sheets are complete, especially on clinical signs, vaccines, etc. |
Dr. Lachèze Anne-Claire, Castellane My partner and I are very satisfied with your services (wide range of analyses, speed of receipt of results, ease of obtaining advice over the phone). |
Dr. Campagnie Philippe, Villepreux Very satisfied with the telephone reception and the reliability of the results. |
Dr. Deloffre Philippe, Pau I have always had complete confidence in Scanelis. Often I found the price of the analyses to be a hindrance in my daily practice since we have a partnership with a laboratory that supplies us with vaccines. Thanks to Scanelis I can reach certain diagnoses that previously remained unanswered. |
