Real-time PCR detection of all strains of Helicobacter in laboratory rats and mice
and or Specific detection by real-time PCR of Helicobacter hepaticus.
Typing of the strain(s) involved in the infection.
Test indications
- Diagnosis of infections Helicobacter spp. within the framework of recommendations HAPPY (Federation of European Laboratory Science Associations) and in particular H. hepaticus, H. bilis, H. muridarum, F. rappini, H. rodentium and H. trogontum. The presence of these bacteria can interfere with experimental results
- Diagnosis of Helicobacter infection in a symptomatic animal
- Evaluation you epidemiological risk (highlighting bacterial circulation in animal stores)
- Molecular epidemiology: origin and traceability of an infection
Test characteristics
- Real-time RT-PCR Helicobacter spp. : detection of all strains of Helicobacter
- Real-time RT-PCR Helicobacter hepaticus : specific detection of H. hepaticus
- Detection threshold
- Analyse quantitative possible (on request)
- Typing possible of the strain(s) mainly amplified by sequencing and search for sequence homology
Samples to be taken
- Cecum wall (not fixed): samples from 2 to 3 animals can be grouped in order to reduce the cost of analyzes
- Faeces cage or individual (without transport medium)
- Environmental samples
Interpretation of the result
- Positive result : the animal or animals are infected by a species d’Helicobacter .
Confirmation or exclusion of the presence of H. hepaticus can then be carried out by Real-time PCR.
Typing by sequencing and search for sequence homologies allows the identification of the strain(s) involved in the infection. - Negative result : compatible with animals « Helicobacter free” (or quantity below the detection threshold of the test)
